Spiti Valley sits in the high-altitude cold desert of Himachal Pradesh, often called “the middle land” for its position between India and Tibet. This is one of the most demanding and rewarding rides in the Himalayas — a journey across remote mountain passes, ancient monasteries, and some of the highest motorable villages on earth. Leave city life behind and ride through landscapes that make you question why you’d ever want to go back.
Begin your journey with an overnight Volvo bus ride from Delhi to Manali, leaving the city behind as you head toward the mountains.
Collect your motorcycle in Manali and take a short test ride before setting off toward Gushaini/Jibhi. Check in to your hotel and spend the evening exploring the valley. Overnight in Jibhi.
Ride toward Sangla Valley via Rampur on a scenic 8-hour route filled with spectacular Himalayan views. Along the way, visit Chitkul, the last inhabited village before the Indo-China border and often called the last village of India. Overnight in Sangla.
A shorter ride of around 4–5 hours brings you to Kalpa. Spend the evening at the famous Suicide Point, known for its dramatic sunset views, before a hearty dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Kalpa.
An early start takes you along the legendary Hindustan-Tibet Highway. Stop at Khab to see the confluence of the Spiti and Sutlej rivers, with clear views of Reo Purgyil Peak from the Khab Bridge. Break for lunch at Nako (not included), then continue past the notorious Malling Nallah stretch before entering Spiti Valley near Sumdo. A short detour leads to the 500-year-old mummy preserved in Gue village. Continue to Kaza for dinner and an overnight stay.
One of the most memorable days of the trip. Visit Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office, and Komic, the highest motorable village in the world. Continue to Langza for sweeping views of Chau Chau Kang Nilda peak and the village’s iconic Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Overnight in Kaza.
Ride over the Chicham Bridge, the highest bridge on the route, and cross Kunzum La, the highest pass of the trip. Visit Key Monastery and Kibber village along the way. From Batal, the road toward Chandratal becomes increasingly scenic, ending about a kilometre short of the lake — the final stretch is on foot. Chandratal, meaning “Moon Lake,” is a crescent-shaped lake set in stark, high-altitude terrain. Overnight at a campsite by the lake.
An early breakfast precedes the ride back to Manali via Batal, Chhatru, and the Atal Tunnel — one of the most scenic stretches of the entire trip. The journey takes roughly 7–8 hours. Overnight in Manali.
Check out in the morning and store your luggage at the hotel reception. Spend the day exploring Manali at your own pace. In the evening, board your transfer back to Delhi, marking the end of this unforgettable journey.
Arrive in Delhi in the early morning, bringing your Spiti Valley expedition to a close.
